Things to Check on Your Lawn This Summer

You’ve probably spent most of the spring trying to get your lawn in order. Now that summer has finally come around, you should continue to keep a close eye on it to make sure it’s always looking its best. Here are a few of the things you should check on throughout the summer to keep your lawn in good shape.

How are your plants holding up?

Each plant that you have on your property has a different personality. Some plants can survive without any problem in the sunshine without much water, while others would prefer to be in the shade with a seemingly endless supply of H2O. You should get a better understanding of the plants in your yard and then make sure they’re getting what they need to thrive. If you find that any of them aren’t holding up well under the summery conditions, you should consider replacing them with plants that will do better in your yard.

Are there any pests you need to worry about?

You don’t just want to start killing off all the bugs you find in your yard. There are some wasps, for example, that can prove to be extremely beneficial to you. They’ll take care of killing off the bugs that will try and eat your plants. However, there are also some beetles and other bugs that will take a toll on your landscaping and eat their way through your plants. You should consider having your yard treated if you find them.

Is your lawn drying out or turning brown?

You might be watering your lawn religiously and still seeing signs of it drying it. If this is the case, you should find other ways to maintain your lawn so that it looks healthy. You might need to aerate it, fertilize it, remove weeds, and take other steps to ensure your lawn stays lush. If you don’t do these things, your lawn could very easily dry out and even die on you.
