Regular Cleaning & Maintenance:

As we’ve already mentioned, one of the advantages of brick and stone pavers is that they’re pretty low maintenance. Still, you will need to do some semi-regular cleaning to help keep them at their best.

Sweep, scrub, and weed your stone pavers regularly.

You can use anything from warm water mixed with dish soap to a paver cleaning solution to give your pavers a good wash. After you spot test it, cover your pavers in the solution and allow it to sit for one to two minutes. Then, depending on how dirty they are, you can either hose or scrub it off. Just make sure you’re using a soft-bristled brush, as harsher materials like wire may scratch the stone.

You’ll also want to take the time to regularly remove weeds that pop up in between the stones. If left unkempt, they weaken the seams and can cause cracks over time.

Treating Common Stains:

Oil & Grease

Didn’t realize your car had an oil leak until you parked it in the driveway? No worries! Simply mop up as much of the stain as you can with a cleaning solution and then cover it with cat litter. Let the litter absorb the oil or grease for 24 hours before wiping it away. Repeat until the stain is gone.

Food & Juice

With all the parties you’ll be having on your back patio, it’s almost guaranteed someone will spill something on it eventually. That’s okay though, all you need to do is spot clean it! Use a small, soft brush (like a toothbrush) to scrub the stain with undiluted soap or laundry detergent and let it set for 30-60 minutes. Then, scrub it with very hot water to remove the soap. Repeat this process until the stain has been lifted.
